What is Festival of Trees?
The Festival of Trees is a holiday fundraiser conceived of and organized as the result of a shared planning session between Brian Varvel and Christy Bohlen, both real estate consultants with Keller Williams Premier Realty in Katy, Texas. The event culminated from a brainstorming session about fulfilling a commitment to a fourth quarter fundraiser for the benefit of The Ballard House, a not-for-profit facility in Katy dedicated to providing free housing to patients and their families visiting the Katy area for treatment of life-threatening illnesses.
The Festival of Trees is soon to be the largest holiday event in the Katy – Fulshear – Richmond area, and this year is being hosted at Cane Island, with a VIP breakfast to be hosted on-site at The Ballard House. Visitors to the festival, which is being held over the three day weekend immediately following Thanksgiving in November, can expect a holiday celebration packed with fun!
So what can I expect?
The cornerstone to our event is the Parade of Trees. A collection of custom designed Christmas Trees and Wreaths that are sponsored by and decorated by your neighbors, businesses, and organizations to be displayed on-site and made available for purchase throughout the weekend show. It’s the perfect opportunity for show visitors to come get some great decorating ideas, see some AMAZING displays, and even buy them and bring them home… just in time to decorate for the holidays!
Visitors can also expect live entertainment throughout the duration of the Festival of Trees – everything from choir performances to cheerleader routines to Tae-Kwon-Do exhibitions. Get there early and often to enjoy some really stellar performances.
We’ve also made arrangements to have some of your favorite food trucks on-site, so there’s sure to be something for the entire family to enjoy. Snacks, desserts, and drinks will be available from our snack bar… and when the sun goes down, we’re bringing out the S’mores kits for fireside marshmallow roasting, conveniently located with a great view of the stage.
For those looking for great Christmas gifts, you’ll be sure to enjoy our Holiday Market – a vendor park chock full of crafts, gifts, toys, ornaments and everything else under the sun. We’re also working on a car show as well as planning on having the football games on the big screen in the tree house. The kids will have plenty to keep them busy in the Big Fun Kidz Zone – a playfield full of bounce houses, petting zoo, face painting, balloon artists, pony rides and more. It’s a perfect family festival for mom, dad, and the kids!
And don’t forget, Santa will be on-site for those treasured holiday photos. For those that can’t make it while he’s here, we’ve got a mailbox with direct access to the North Pole where you kids can write and send Santa their wish lists! We’ll make sure they all get to the jolly one himself.
And lastly, for those that want to jump the crowds and have a more intimate experience, come take part ok Breakfast with Santa. Our VIP experience to be held at The Ballard House on the morning before our grand opening will feature a special Christmas choir, a fabulous breakfast by Snooze, an A.M. Eatery, and a special appearance by Jolly Old St. Nick. In addition, your Breakfast with Santa tickets gains you early access to the Festival of Trees at our Designer Preview Party – where you get a 2 hour jump on the crowds to see and experience everything there is to experience.
We look forward to seeing you there!
